A decade!: Víctor Agurto turns 10 at Imagemaker

Many years and many learnings are what Víctor Agurto, Consultancy Lead of Imagemaker, highlights after his 10 years of experience in the company.

From 2011 to date, Víctor has made his way into the company and held different roles that today position him as a leading leader for his work teams and the entire maker family.

Today he tells us about his experience over these 10 years of professional and personal life

1. How did you get into Imagemaker?

At that time, I was only three years out of college. I was born in Retiro, near Linares but I went to study in Chillán and when I finished my studies I moved to Santiago. I was called to apply for the position of Medium Full Stack and the proposal to work for one of Imagemaker's most important clients was very attractive, but what caught my attention the most in my interview was that I learned a lot in that meeting and it made me see the potential of working here. From that moment until now it has been constant learning that has made me grow a lot.

2. How has your personal and professional evolution been?

Both aspects go very close. Over the years I have been occupying different positions and challenges that have made me evolve as a person and as a professional. I started as a Full Stack, at a medium level, but after a few months, I had the opportunity to be a technical leader. In 2013 I was promoted to project manager leading teams in different clients of banking, retail, insurance, telecommunications, pharmaceuticals, Isapres, among others, who gave me a high professional and personal background since now dealing with people requires having certain important soft skills. In between, I became the father of Mateo, who is now 4 years old and has been the most important and incredible role of my life.

In this current stage, I took on the challenge of the consulting area that has been an important pillar for the growth of the company.

3. What fact would you highlight of these 10 years?

I would symbolically highlight the change of office because it marked a before and after in the direction of the company with respect to the new culture, which later became a reality when Lionel took over as CEO and we began to change the mentality for an agile one. Now we cannot go to the office, but it is a symbol of the maker culture.

4. How have you experienced the evolution of the company?

For me it is very significant because I have been able to grow with Imagemaker, see its evolution with perspective, and witness the changes that have led us to be what we are now. The Imagemaker of today is very different from what it was when I entered and I am proud to be part of this story.

5. What skills do you think are most important for professional development?

Be a hustler. Be curious and never standstill. The possibilities are endless, you just have to go find them and make them.

6. What advice would you give new makers?

I know that today's generations have a different mentality regarding work, but the best advice I can give you is that when it comes to making a career, focus on your professional growth. Let them start making their own opportunities, ask questions and study what they don't know.

7. What motivates you to stay at Imagemaker?

One of the main motivations, apart from the stability that the company has, is the same that prompted me to enter in the beginning and that is that after 10 years Imagemaker still delivers a lot of learning, especially now that we globalize operations, we have a great projection in the market and we can continue to grow.
